If your institute juggles high phone bills and scattered communication, SABEN’s VOIP service offers a solution. Built for education, it cuts costs and keeps your teams connected, whether across campus or the province.
Managing multiple campuses, teams, and stakeholders across a college or training institution can be complex and costly.
That’s where SABEN’s Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) service comes in. It offers a smarter, more cost-effective way to stay connected.
VOIP allows voice calls to be made via the internet instead of traditional landlines.
SABEN’s offering is built on a cloud-hosted private telephone network platform, which removes the need for on-site infrastructure and reduces technical overhead.
It also integrates directly with Microsoft Teams, allowing staff to make and receive calls within a familiar platform.
“...institutions can benefit from significant cost savings across their communications”
One of the biggest advantages of using SABEN’s VOIP service is its hybrid setup, which ensures that all internal calls made within the SABEN-supported network are completely free.
When a college is connected to the Euphoria network, calls between campuses and different buildings are free of charge.
When combined with significantly reduced outbound call rates, institutions benefit from significant cost savings across their communications.
Because the service runs on SABEN’s high-performance national research and education network, developed in partnership with SANReN and the Tertiary Education and Research Network of South Africa (TENET), educational institutions benefit from fast, reliable connectivity built specifically for teaching, learning, and collaboration.
For colleges with multiple campuses, SABEN’s VOIP allows efficient, cost-effective communication between sites. This reduces dependence on outdated telecom systems and streamlines everything into one streamlined setup
Institutions that have relied on traditional service providers often face the same issues: poor service delivery, unreliable technical support, copper cable theft, and regular disruptions.
Engaging with multiple vendors adds unnecessary complexity and delays.
With SABEN, colleges get support from a dedicated team that understands how TVET campuses operate. Customer service agents are also on standby to help with any technical or service-related queries.
Plus, there’s just one contract and simple billing, which makes procurement and budgeting much easier. VOIP systems also allow you to monitor and analyse detailed phone usage to better optimise your college operations.
SABEN has partnered with Euphoria Telecom to bring affordable VOIP to South Africa’s TVET colleges.
Through this partnership, SABEN acts as a conduit for rolling out high-speed internet and voice services to TVET colleges, especially in rural and underserved areas.
Euphoria supports this vision by migrating colleges onto its cloud PBX platform and enabling low-cost internal voice communications between students and colleges. Euphoria is an industry leader in telecommunications and is trusted by over 6000 successful South African businesses.
To access SABEN’s VOIP service, an institution must first be eligible to join the South African National Research and Education Network (SANReN).
This includes public or private educational institutions that are recognised by SARS as exempt from income taxes.
Determine Eligibility:
Institutions must confirm eligibility by contacting SABEN and describing their organisation. Simply send us an email.
Submit an Application:
Each campus or site must be submitted using the online application form provided by SABEN.
Execute the SABEN REN Services Agreement:
This master agreement outlines the framework for connectivity through SABEN, without locking the institution into specific financial commitments upfront.
Collaborative Review and Feasibility:
The proposed project is reviewed by TENET/SCA to assess its impact on the SANReN network, followed by feasibility studies conducted by vendors.
Service Schedule and Purchase Order:
Once costs are confirmed, SABEN issues a Service Schedule (quote). Upon approval and signature, a purchase order is sent to the vendor to begin network deployment.
Deployment and Commissioning:
SABEN oversees the build, installs networking equipment, and commissions the service. Once live, institutions can activate VOIP services.
