South African Broadband Education Networks (SABEN) is proud to announce SABEN Connects 2026, a landmark gathering taking place in Cape Town during the week of 28 September – 2 October 2026. This event brings together leaders, innovators, and decision makers from across the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector to celebrate ten years of supporting access to affordable internet in higher education.
Over the past decade, SABEN’s integration with the National Research Education Network (NREN) has played a pivotal role in transforming connectivity nationwide. Today, SABEN connects more than 45 TVET colleges to access fast, reliable broadband infrastructure that supports modern teaching, learning, and institutional innovation.
SABEN Connects is a one‑day event intended to bring together colleagues and friends from across the higher education ecosystem. The programme will feature engaging dialogue and project showcases, shared in the spirit of connectedness and community.
SABEN Connects 2026 will focus on the theme of “Technology in the Classroom”. Over the past decade, SABEN has brought high-speed internet to 256 out of 283 campuses across 45 public TVET colleges. At SABEN Connects 2026, we will focus on how to make the most of the NREN network bringing together IT heads, principals and managers.
Attendees can expect additional updates in the coming months, including the full speaker lineup and programme highlights. All TVET IT heads, technicians, principals, and government representatives are invited to register for this milestone event. Attendees are encouraged to share this invitation with colleagues across their institutions.
Prospective sponsors are encouraged to participate at one of South Africa’s most impactful gatherings of TVET decision makers. Sponsors can be a part of an exclusive exhibition space, where you can meet and engage with stakeholders. Reach out to the SABEN Connects organisers at marketing@saben.ac.za
